Sunny Valley and Wolf Creek are friendly communities of hospitable country folk. The businesses and public lands surrounding these beautiful mountain communities provide ample opportunities for fun and adventure. Listed below are just some local attractions that will make you want to stay for more than one night at Sunny Valley RV Park and Campground.

Walking Tours
Covered Bridge Country Store and Gas Station has a surprisingly varied selection of everyday personal and grocery needs. Even if you don’t need anything you will want to be sure and stop in for a visit with Betty who is the local historian for Sunny Valley and the Applegate Trail.
The Historic Graves Creek Covered Bridge & Old Town Hall historic sites are across the freeway from our campground, less than 3/4 mile walking distance.
Applegate Trail Museum Next door to the Old Town Hall is The Applegate Trail Interpretive Center and Museum. This museum is one of the best pioneer museums of its size around. It features artifacts and a short movie telling the story of the first immigrant wagon train to travel the southern route of the Oregon Trail known as the Applegate Trail. The museum is also packed with displays pertaining to gold mining, the stageline, and the railroad.

Rogue River Trail: You will enjoy this trail for its beauty in all seasons with your children and friends. We highly recommend seeing part of the Scenic Rogue River from this trail that follows it downstream from Graves Creek.
Grants Pass Growers Market: A fabulous place to buy fresh local, organic produce and local crafts.
Raft the Rogue River: A fun way to to experience the wild and scenic Rogue River, whether you rent your own raft or kayak or book a guided tour. There are many rafting companies in Southern Oregon. Click on the highlighted names below for more information on a few in our area:

Pottsville Museum and Pioneer Town: Just 8 miles south of Sunny Valley you can see thousands of items commemorating Oregon’s history at Pottsville through an Outdoor Exhibit and Museum and Pioneer Town. The Annual Father’s Day Old Engine Pull and Tractor Show and flea market draws a huge crowd every year providing fun for all ages.
Historic Wolf Creek Inn: For a charming retreat into the past head north from Sunny Valley 5 miles where you can enjoy a delicious meal in Oregon’s oldest continuously used Inn located in the small town of Wolf Creek. The innkeepers can share the quaint history of the inn and you can tour the well maintained building and grounds which were purchased by the State of Oregon in 1975 for historic preservation.
Golden, Gold Mining Ghost Town: While in Wolf Creek don’t miss the opportunity to visit the real Oregon Ghost Town of “Golden.” Travel just a couple of miles east on Coyote Creek to the mining town established in 1890. The Golden Community Church, though abandoned and a bit weathered since its erection in 1892, is still open to visitors. Other buildings and a small graveyard are scattered nearby.
While at Golden vist the Coyote Wetlands immediately across the street from the ghost town. The Wetlands is a multi-use natural resource and cultural restoration project. Take a walk through time to experience how early mining impacted the landscape.
Red Mountain Golf Course: Only 13 minutes from Sunny Valley, this 9-hole golf course in Grants Pass, Oregon, is a public golf course that opened in 1988. Designed by Bob Snook, Red Mountain Golf Course measures 1118 yards from the longest tees. Greens and fairways are bent grass.
Josephine County Sportsman Park: The Josephine County Sportsman Association is a non-profit Sport Shooting Facility with approximately 320 acres next to Walker Mountain. They offer several outdoor and indoor shooting ranges. Sportsman Park is located 17 minutes south of our campground, accessible from the Merlin exit.

Day Excursions
Fishing: Southern Oregon boast some of the best fishing around. Whether it’s a guided trip on the Rogue River or just casting a line in the many lakes or rivers, you’ll find world-class fishing here.
Shopping: Visit historic downtown Grants Pass and enjoy the many unique shops, art galleries, antique shops, farmers markets, and numerous events that go on year round.
Oregon Caves National Monument: Book a cave tour, explore the Historic Chateau at the Oregon Caves, have a picnic lunch, or eat at the historic cafe. A must see on anyone’s bucket list.
Wine Tours of Josephine County: The Rogue Valley offers the richest diversity of climate and widest variety of grapes in Oregon. It’s a great place for a full-spectrum wine-touring experience.
Wild Life Safari in Winston is a 600 acre drive-thru animal park, filled with hundreds of animals from Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

Crater Lake National Park: At a depth of 1943 feet, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States and the ninth deepest in the world. Its fresh water is some of the clearest in the world.
